Relief for Uesato as he breaks slump

Ceres-Negros striker Takumi Uesato broke his scoring drought after registering a brace against Stallion Laguna last July 1.

The Okinawan not only brought his slump to an end but also added another ‘Man of the match’ performance for the Negros side.

“Of course i am happy,” said the Uesato when asked about his performance in the post-match press conference.

“I just want to say sorry to the team because it takes very very long time to (score a) goal,” said the Japanese striker.

Ceres Coach Risto Vidakovic, who also was in the presser, noted that the striker did not have the best of luck in the last couple of months which was detrimental to his return to form.

“It was really hard for him because he had a lot of opportunities but something always happens. He scored against JPV in Manila, two goals, gets an injury, and then didn’t play many games,” said the Ceres mentor.

“For me the most important thing he is working and staying good. I’m happy for him that because he scored in a very important game,” Vidakovic added.

It was an important game indeed as Uesato’s second half brace allowed Ceres-Negros to extend its lead to twelve heading into the most crucial phase of the season.

The striker intends to build on his performance when they face title contender’s Kaya in their next match.

“In the game tonight we try (and) try,  Next game also, I want to get the goal,” Uesato added.
