A top of the table affair beckons as Davao hosts Negros in their first meeting in the 2018 PFL season on May 2 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in the City of Manila.
Both squads are currently on top with the Busmen on top with twelve points and the Aguilas following with eleven. Ceres-Negros have won maximum points so far while Davao drew two prior assignments.
Their first four meetings in the inaugural PFL saw Ceres owning the matchup with three wins and a draw. The best match for both teams happened in Tagum City where the visitors forced a 1-1 draw after going down early in the first half.
With Davao signing up key players in the off-season, the first meeting comes as a true test for the hottest teams this season. The likes of Dennis Villanueva and Takashi Odawara have strengthened the Mindanao club to increase their competitiveness this season.
Ceres meanwhile have been consistent in the last few months with the Stephan Schrock, Bienvenido Maranon, and Patrick Reichelt converting well to keep their PFL streak afloat.
The afternoon matchup will be a good test for the Busmen who played to an intense 4-1 win versus JPV Marikina last April 28. JPV scored a goal back after Ceres went to a 2-0 lead to make things interesting before the visitors scored two more late in the match to secure the victory.
The Aguilas meanwhile scored a decisive 3-0 victory against Global Cebu with goals from the Phil and James Younghusband. The brothers were instrumental in the match having a direct hand in all three goals.
The match is scheduled to commence at 4pm on Wednesday and will be streamed live via PFLtv.ph. A win by either club will put them in pole position in the Philippines Football League.
