Ceres-Negros faces Philippine Air Force in PFL

After five long years, Ceres-Negros FC and Philippine Air Force FC will lock horns once again as they’re set to battle in Philippines Football League on May 29 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.

Both squads last met in 2014 in Division 2 of the United Football League where stars such as Ian Araneta and Jin Ho Kim were the bylines for second tier football. The two strikers were the top scorers the second division with the Korean netting 32 goals and the former Azkal scoring 21.

It was Ceres-La Salle who owned the matchup then as they scored a 2-1 win and a 1-1 draw over the Airmen.

The two clubs has since diverged paths after that season with Ceres rising to the first division and while the Airmen inhibited themselves from club football ever since.

Five years later, both teams will cross paths once again with a lot of changes especially for the two-time league champions. Araneta is already part of the coaching staff while former Azkals in Joel Ballo-Allo and the ageless Yanti Bersales will be the senior players of the team.

Joshua Beloya, Javier Ramos Jr, and keeper Mark Mendome will inject youth into the squad which will be tested against the likes of Curt Dizon, OJ Porteria, and Roland Muller.

The busmen will be keen to make up for their draw in opening day where Stallion Laguna took the lead twice before Bienvenido Maranon scored the equalizer off a Stephan Schrock assist.

The match is set at 4PM in the Rizal Memorial Stadium with the live stream available at www.PFLtv.ph.
