Ceres players called up for National duty

Six players were called up for international duty for the Philippine Azkals for the next two weeks in their International friendly and Asian Cup Qualifying campaign. Midfielders Kevin Ingereso, Iain Ramsay, and Manny Ott together with defenders  Jeffrey Christaens, Jim Junior Munoz, and Luke woodland were called up to the national squad.

The Azkals will play Tajikistan in the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 Qualifiers scheduled on June 13, 2017 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Prior to the match they will face China in an international friendly on June 7, 2017 at the Guangzhou Tianhe Sports Centre Stadium in Guangzhou, China.

The rest of the squad includes veterans in Amani Aguinaldo, Daisuke Sato, Dennis Villanueva, Misagh Bahadoran, Phil Younghusband, and James Younghusband. Young players such as Fitch Arboleda, Kenshiro Daniels, Dom Del Rosario, Pika Minegeshi will also feature for the Philippine side. Former Ceres player Camelo Tacusalme was also called up including Ott’s younger brother Mike who is based in Thailand.

The Azkals started the ACQ campaign well after a 4-1 drubbing of Nepal at home at the Rizal Memorial Stadium. The Philippine team has yet to play the stronger squads in Tajikistan and Yemen for the qualifying of the 2019 Asian tournament.
