Stephan Schröck and Ceres-Negros FC went out as victors after they faced rivals Global Cebu Wednesday night in the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.
The talismanic player had a hand on both goals including a stunning scissor kick volley that higlighted his influence in the tightly contested match.
The Ceres midfielder reveled on the teams’ milestone in the league considering their simultaneous campaign in the AFC Cup.
“We had lots of games in the past weeks a lot of travels already beginning this year and its not for granted that we started the league with three wins,” said Schröck.
“Everyone can be very proud, from the management to the coaching staff and players that we are on top after three games. It’s not done yet but its a good achievement at this point in the season and we are looking forward to repeat this,” he added.
When asked on what is the secret behind the teams good run the past few weeks, the Ceres playmaker had no hesitation in his response.
“Honest work,” said the former Bundesliga veteran. “Honest work and respectful team cohesion. We are friends off the pitch and on the pitch,” he added.
A busy schedule awaits Ceres-Negros in the coming months with their impending entry into the knockout stages of the AFC Cup and with the league going into full gear.
While it may seem daunting to see the teams’ calendar, the Ceres star is still looking forward to the challenges ahead while appreciating the early benefits of their hard work.
“The schedule is very tight for us. But nevertheless we are always looking forward to some adventure. We are happy that we are healthy and unbeaten at this point,” Schröck added.
