The top teams meet again as Kaya FC-Iloilo hosts Ceres-Negros for the second time in the Iloilo Sports Complex on July 7 in Iloilo City.
The two squads will battle for maximum points in two consecutive matches with Ceres aiming to increase its nine point lead and Kaya looking to trim it down to manageable levels.
The teams have played three games so far with each team earning a win, draw, and a loss each. Their first meeting saw the busmen come from behind to win 2-1 in the Panaad.
Kaya scored a 2-0 upset in their second match in Bacolod while their debut match in Iloilo saw both squads score in the end of regulation.
Negros scored first goal late in the match when Mike Ott tapped in Patrick Reichelt ball in the 86th minute.
Iloilo equalized minutes later through the persistence of Noy Felongco who took advantage of an errant backpass to steal the ball and put it to the back of the net.
“I think we deserved the advantage at 1-0 but because of that mistake it was kinda tough,” said Ceres defender Junior Muñoz who figured in the game changing play in the last match.
“I think we are more motivated now because we owe it also to the fans last time,” he added.
Muñoz is staying away from any talk about the league title but instead is focused on getting the best result in the upcoming matches.
“Every game we take is important. It doesnt matter if we’re this close to the championship because it has its own downfalls if we get comfortable. We just take every game one-hundred percent and that what we do best so thats what we’ll keep on doing,” Muñoz added.
There are no suspended players for both squads giving both coaches the luxury to pick from their available lineups.
Kickoff is set to 3pm in anticipation of weather disturbances Saturday afternoon. Capacity crowd is expected for the top of the table clash which will be broadcast live on pfltv.ph.
