Ceres bows out of Singapore Cup after extra time

Ceres-La Salle FC conceded two goals in extra-time of the 2nd leg semifinal which was held last August 24 at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore. The Bacolod squad forced extra time with a 2-1 result after ninety minutes but the lack of personnel allowed Tampines to take advantage and reach the Singapore Cup final with a 5-3 aggregate score.

Stephan Schrock opened the scoring with a penalty in the 45th minute but Tampines equalized in the second half care of a Hafiz Sujad goal in the 57th. Patrick Reichelt scored a the second goal in the 78th to tie the aggregate score to 3-3 and force the match into extra time.

The Busmen were already down to ten men in regulation when Paul Mulders received his second yellow. An injury to Reichelt in the first half of extra time effectively put Ceres down to nine which allowed Afiq Yunos to score the go ahead goal for Tampines. Substitute Saifullah Akbar scored in the second half of extra time to complete the turnaround for the Singapore squad.
