Nate Burkey scored a hat-trick and provided an assist to lead Ceres-La Salle FC to its maiden win with a 6-0 result against Nomads FC last May 14 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
The Virginia native started in the match and it didn’t take too long as he scored the opener in the 2nd minute after connecting to a cheeky Lee Jeong Woo assist. Burkey scored his second after an Orman Okunaiya cutback a one-teo he initiated allowed him to blast the ball to the bottom corner to make it 2-0 after fourteen minutes. A minute before halftime, Burkey returned the favor to the Northern Irishman to make it 3-0.
The Bacolod squad was down to ten-men when Lee was sent off at the hour mark. The deficit didn’t stop he Busmen from scoring as Marvin Angeles chipped Nomads’ Joshua Cruz in the 70th for their fourth goal.
In the 79th, Bienvenido Marañon took advantage of a bad throw-in from Nomads to score his first and pad the lead to five. Burkey would complete his hat-trick six minutes from time to complete the route. Ceres will now face Agila MSA on Thursday, May 18, for their third league match.
