Robert Lopez Mendy had an impressive debut for Ceres-Negros in the Philippines Football League after playing well under torrential conditions in Lipa City.
Aside from the weather, the Ceres-Negros striker had to contend with familiar faces after playing against his former team whom he threatened with his dangerous runs and attempts throughout the match.
Though his debut was quite an emotional affair, the Senegalese target man was very workmanlike when asked about playing against Kaya FC.
“Its always feels weird to play against your former team but that’s football and that’s how its supposed to be,” said the Philippine league veteran.
“Its my first game after three months so it’s very tough. Plus, it was playing against good opponents so it doesn’t make it easy for us but at least we got the win,” Lopez Mendy added.
When asked about he looks forward to in the next matches, Lopez Mendy was very succinct in his response. “Score a lot of goals and help the team to win the title,” said the PFL 2018 top scorer.
With five more games this month and twelve more for the rest of the season, Lopez Mendy will definitely have his chance to bring goals and glory to his new team.
