FIFA President Gianni Infantino congratulated Ceres-Negros FC on being the inaugural champions of the Philippines Football League. The Negros squad beat Global Cebu last December 16 to emerge as 4-1 victors in the league final.
In a letter addressed to PFF President Mariano “Nonong” Araneta, the leader of the world football governing body extended his good wishes to the club after the remarkable achievement.
“It gives me great pleasure to send my warmest congratulations to Ceres-Negros FC for winning the inaugural edition of the Philippines Football League!,” said Infantino
“This title is the result of the determination of everyone involved and my congratulations go to the players, the coach, the administration, the entire technical and medical staff as well as the fans for this great achievement,” he added.
The FIFA President also thanked the club and the member association for their contribution to the sport. “On behalf of the entire football community, I would like to thank Ceres-Negros FC and your association for helping to spread the positive message of football”
