Ceres-Negros came up with masterful defensive performance in the second half of their supercup matchup with Kaya Iloilo to preserve the 1-0 advantage and most importantly to secure another three points for the Negros squad.
“It was amazing,” said Team Captain and centerback Carli De Murga on the second half performance with only ten men in the second half. “Everyone put on some really hard work in the field.”
The sending off of Sean Kane late in the first half saw Stephan Schrock sliding down at right back. Joshua Dutosme was a rock at left back while De Murga and Super were solid in the middle.
“Especially today with the weather, it wasnt easy to play. It was like a war. We knew we had one man less so we had to work harder so I’m very proud of every player of the team, ” De Murga added.
Though being adjudged as the man of the match, the Ceres-Negros captain was quick to point out that anyone could have earned the same award in any day.
“In these kind of games with this weather, you won’t see too many beautiful things from the strikers because the field wasn’t really playable. So today its was me, the next game could be the other defender and so on,” he added.
