Ceres-Negros FC looks to complete the impossible in their final league match versus Kaya Iloilo on October 18 at the Aboitiz Pitch in Lipa Batangas.

The Busmen are out to complete the season undefeated when they face the second ranked squad for the fourth time this season. The 2019 PFL Champions have dug deep to get three wins against their rivals this year.

Their first meeting last July 10 saw the Busmen trail againt the Iloilo side in the second half after a Jovin Bedic goal in the 62nd minute. The Negrenses fought back immediately after Stephan Schrock and Bievenido Marañon combined to take the lead and the victory.

Their rain-washed second match saw Ceres-Negros go ahead with an early goal from OJ Porteria. A second yellow on Sean Kane made it difficult for the Busmen but they held Kaya in the remaining half to take the narrow win.

A man of the match performance from Porteria last September was the difference as he assisted on Mike Ott’s opening goal and scored his own in the first half.

A reckless play brought the action to a halt when Jordan Mintah intentionally elbowed Super Herrera which sent the Spaniard to a seizure after the play. Ceres-Negros went on to win the match.

Though the final match has no implication for both squads, the unbeaten record plust the scoring title is still up for grabs for the leading scorers of both teams. Marañon and Mintah are both tied at 29 goals heading into their final meeting.

“It’s not easy to be unbeaten during the whole league,” said Ceres mentor Risto Vidakovic. “I think its something historic but we are not obsessed with that (record). If it happens, it happens,” he added.

The final match for both squads is set to kick off at 4PM with the awarding ceremony set immediately after the match.
