Ceres-Negros FC looks to get one hand on the title when it faces contender Kaya FC-Iloilo in their third league match on September 18, 2019 at the Biñan Football Stadium in Laguna.

The Busmen are currently on top of the Philippines Football League with 43 points, six ahead of the Iloilo-affiliated squad. The two teams have met twice this year with Ceres-Negros earning two home victories with two away matches left against the Kaya.

The Busmen came from behind to clinch a 2-1 win last July 10 at the PFF National Training Center. Jovin Bedic scored the opener in the first half but a brace from Maranon and a man of the match performance from Stephan Schrock meant the Negros squad would take first blood.

Their second match came in August 3 at the Aboitiz Pitch which saw Ceres-Negros going ahead early in the rain-drenched match. Ceres-Negros were brought down to ten men just before half time after a second yellow from Sean Kane.

Kaya had a chance to equalize in the second half but Bedic hit the woodwork from a penalty. The defending champs held on the rest of the match to get full points from two matches.

The third meeting of both squads will be crucial as a win by the Busmen would give them one hand on the PFL title. Kaya however hopes to get maximum points and trim the lead to only three points.

“Kaya is a special team, they are our strongest opponent in the League,” said Ceres Coach Risto Vidakovic. “I think the players will give everything in this game because it is crucial to win the league again.”

Ceres-Negros striker Robert Lopez Mendy is also looking to get his chance on his first league title after spending most of his career in the Philippines. A win against Kaya on Wednesday would surely help in achieving that dream.

“I’ve never won the title since I came to the Philippines. Im gonna give everything I can to win,” said the Senegalese front man.

Kickoff is set at 330pm in Binan with the match shown live on pfltv.ph and on Facebook Live via the Philippines Football League page.
