The 4th Ceres Cup is already primed to start according to competitions head Warren Concepcion. The annual football festival slated on May 20-21 is set to be held in different football grounds in Talisay City in Negros Occidental.
With fourteen age groups available in the two-day festival, the competition already processed the application of most of the teams from all over the Philippines. “We’re already at 300-plus teams and we’re aiming at 400,” said Concepcion.
The competitions head also bared the influx of teams coming mostly from Mindanao which are spread among the different age groups. Among the participants of the tournament is a Korean team brought over by former Ceres Coach Cha Soong Yong who will participate in the Mens 40 division.
“Ceres Negros Football Club is humbled by the overwhelming support the Philippine football community has shown to the Ceres Cup throughout the years,” said Tournament chairman Nicolas P. Golez.
The football festival, which only has a P1,000 registration fee for most age groups, is the biggest in the region and probably in the Philippines. Transportation is provided for different locations with food and drinks available at the venue. Trophies and medals will be given out to the top teams including a trophy awarded to the age group MVP.
